Iran and Oman said they discussed a phased plan to restore safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz while respecting each side’s sovereignty and sovereign rights. The proposal includes a temporary joint maritime passage in the strait and a joint project to clear mines. The two sides said technical-level talks will continue on a permanent maritime passage, future management of the strait, traffic information exchange, and related maritime and security services. They also stressed the need for dialogue with coastal states of the Persian Gulf and compliance with international law.
