Infisical has announced the open-source release of Agent Vault, a specialized HTTP forward proxy and key vault designed to enhance security for AI agents. Co-founder Tony Dang highlighted that Agent Vault addresses the challenge of key management for non-deterministic AI agents, which can be vulnerable to prompt injection attacks. Unlike traditional key management systems that distribute secrets directly, Agent Vault uses a proxy layer to inject keys during outbound requests, ensuring agents never directly handle sensitive information.
Agent Vault operates by routing all outbound traffic through a proxy, where it intercepts requests, retrieves encrypted keys, and injects them into request headers before forwarding them to the intended service. This approach is interface-agnostic, supporting API, CLI, SDK, and MCP calls. The release marks the first open-source, platform-agnostic solution in this domain, with similar proprietary solutions developed by companies like Anthropic, Vercel, and Cloudflare.
