India's national blockchain framework has successfully verified over 340 million government documents, marking a significant achievement in the country's digital governance efforts. Launched in September 2024 with a budget of 647.6 million rupees, the system comprises four key components: Vishwasya Stack, NBFLite, Praamaanik, and the National Layer Portal. These components work together to provide permanent, transparent, and secure record-keeping across more than 1,200 government departments. This robust infrastructure could potentially streamline processes such as crypto KYC, asset tokenization, and digital rupee integration, should cryptocurrency receive regulatory approval in India. The development positions India as a potential leader in blockchain technology, even as it navigates current regulatory challenges.
