India has attracted approximately $12 billion in cumulative investment commitments from global and domestic companies following the launch of its new semiconductor industry policy. The investments span supply chain enterprises including chip equipment, materials, and chemicals manufacturers, signaling broad industry participation in the country's manufacturing push. The surge follows India's July announcement of an additional $13.4 billion semiconductor fund, supplementing a previous $10 billion subsidy program designed to support local wafer fab and assembly facility construction by companies such as Tata Group and Micron. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw stated these investments will materialize over the next two to three years, with some projects already in production and capacity largely booked. Tata Electronics signed multiple cooperation agreements with Nexperia and Fujifilm covering wafer manufacturing, assembly and testing, and localization of key materials, further consolidating India's emerging semiconductor ecosystem.
