imToken has issued a security statement addressing concerns about the randomness of private keys in non-custodial wallets, following recent U.S. enforcement news. The company assured that users of both the imToken software wallet and the imKey hardware wallet are unaffected. According to the statement, imToken software wallets generate private keys locally using secure random number sources from iOS and Android systems, with the core codebase TokenCore open-sourced since 2018 for audit. Private keys are never transmitted over the network. The imKey hardware wallet uses a true random number generator (TRNG) within a secure chip to generate mnemonics and private keys. imToken emphasized that both products are non-custodial, meaning they do not store user private keys or mnemonics, and advised users to securely back up their mnemonics.
