Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, has partnered with blockchain infrastructure firm tZERO to develop core infrastructure for its planned NYSE-affiliated securities tokenization market. The companies will build an on-chain securities token transfer agent and broker-dealer settlement system, with tZERO expected to serve as the platform’s digital transfer agent and participant, handling tokenized shareholder record changes and compliance management.
ICE is also joining tZERO’s new financing round and licensing 103 of its blockchain patents. The companies plan to explore the use of tokenized assets as trading collateral across businesses including ICE clearing houses. ICE had previously named Securitize as the digital transfer agent for the same platform in March.
