A Hyperliquid whale has reportedly suffered losses exceeding $20 million due to a suspected private key theft. According to MLM monitoring, the whale's wallet closed a HYPE long order valued at $16 million and sold 100,000 HYPE, approximately $4.4 million, around 11 hours ago. The breach resulted in the complete emptying of the account, with $17 million stolen from the Hyperliquid account and an additional $3.1 million taken from the Plasma Syrup Vault liquidity pool.
Following the attack, the hacker transferred the stolen assets, converting USDC to DAI and moving the funds to two new wallets. Additionally, MSYRUPUSDP worth $3.11 million was transferred to another wallet. The incident highlights the ongoing risks associated with private key security in the cryptocurrency space.
