A Hong Kong woman has reportedly lost approximately HK$21.4 million in a cryptocurrency scam after being lured into investing through a trading platform by a man she met on social media. The transactions occurred between August and December last year. The victim was unable to withdraw her assets, leading her to suspect fraud and report the incident to the police. The case is being investigated as "obtaining property by deception" by the Tseung Kwan O District Crime Squad. No arrests have been made so far. Authorities have issued a warning to the public to be cautious of high-return investment schemes and so-called "insider information" on social media.
