Chow Pak-yin, a financial influencer in Hong Kong, has been sentenced to six weeks in prison for providing unlicensed investment advice via a paid Telegram group. The Eastern Magistrates’ Court found Chow guilty of operating the illegal group, which focused on Nasdaq-listed stocks, and earning HK$43,680 from subscribers without proper licensing. This case marks the first imprisonment in Hong Kong for such an offense, highlighting the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission's emphasis on regulatory compliance and the risks of unlicensed financial activities.
