The Hong Kong Gold Exchange has announced plans to develop a digital commodity blockchain in collaboration with a member company of Alibaba Group. During the Lunar New Year opening ceremony, Chairman Cheung Tak-hei revealed that the initiative will include an international precious metals trading platform and a comprehensive clearing and settlement system. This development aims to enhance risk control and supervision across various trading systems in Hong Kong, including spot, futures, digital gold, B2C trading, actuarial centers, and OTC trading. The project is expected to be completed within six months, with aspirations to integrate with the Hong Kong Gold Central Clearing System established by the Hong Kong SAR government.
