Former Chief Superintendent Ho Siu-tung of Hong Kong's Wan Chai Police Station has pleaded guilty to charges of bribery and misconduct. Ho admitted to receiving over HK$1.14 million in cash and gifts from businessman Qu Haipeng in exchange for leaking confidential police information and providing favorable treatment during investigations.
The case involves a 2021 report by Qu, who claimed to have been defrauded of approximately $17 million in cryptocurrency. Both this case and another related investigation were under Ho's jurisdiction and were influenced by his unlawful actions. Sentencing is scheduled for May 26.
