Hong Kong's Eastern Magistrates' Court has sentenced financial influencer Zhou Boxian to six weeks in prison for providing investment advice without a license. Zhou managed a subscription-based chat group on a social app, where he offered investment tips, earning a total of HKD 43,680. This marks the first case in Hong Kong where an individual has been jailed for unlicensed investment advice. The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission stated it will continue to crack down on illegal activities by financial influencers and hold them accountable.
