HIVE Digital has announced plans to construct a 320 MW AI infrastructure campus in Toronto, marking a significant shift from Bitcoin mining to AI infrastructure. The facility, expected to be one of Canada's largest AI superfacilities, will house over 100,000 GPUs and is slated to begin operations in the second half of 2027. The project, led by HIVE's subsidiary BUZZ, involves an estimated investment of CAD 3.5 billion (USD 2.55 billion) to develop a large-scale data center for AI model training and operations. Following the announcement, HIVE's stock surged over 35% at the market open on Monday. This development is part of HIVE's ongoing transition towards AI and high-performance computing, building on its previous expansions in Paraguay and Sweden.
