Hedera has been selected as the sole new blockchain for the listing of Wyoming's Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), according to an announcement by the Wyoming Stable Token Commission. FRNT, the state's first state-issued stablecoin, is fully backed by US dollars and short-term US Treasury bonds, with an additional 2% reserve. The interest income generated will benefit the Wyoming State Education Fund.
Hedera was chosen for its transaction speed, regulatory compliance, and governance model. FRNT has already been piloted for public service payments and other applications. Previously, FRNT was listed on seven other blockchains, including Solana and Arbitrum.
