Russian cryptocurrency exchange Grinex has announced plans to compensate clients affected by a hack that occurred in mid-April, resulting in the theft of approximately $14 million in USDT. The exchange initially estimated the loss at around $1,400. Impacted clients will first be able to withdraw the ruble stablecoin A7A5. The stolen assets remain in the attacker's wallet and have been flagged as "stolen assets" by international AML services. Russian police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The hack involved the conversion of the stolen USDT into TRX via SUN io. Grinex is working to address the situation, although the stolen funds have not yet been recovered.
