Governments worldwide are reportedly in discussions to convert seized cryptocurrency assets into strategic reserves, with a target size of $75 billion. According to Chainalysis, over $75 billion in crypto assets linked to illegal activities are currently accessible to law enforcement. In 2025, the on-chain balance of illegal entities is expected to reach nearly $15 billion, while downstream wallets, with at least 10% of funds from criminal sources, hold over $60 billion. Dark web market operators and vendors control more than $40 billion in cryptocurrency, and of the $15 billion directly held by illegal actors, approximately 75% is in Bitcoin.
