Google has announced the deprecation of its Gemini CLI, urging users to transition to the new Antigravity CLI by June 18, 2026. The change affects individual and free users, who must manually migrate to the new system as the legacy tool will no longer respond to requests after this date. The Gemini Code Assist plugin for GitHub organizations will also cease new installations and API responses shortly thereafter. Enterprise users with Gemini Code Assist licenses remain unaffected and can continue using the legacy CLI or switch to the Antigravity CLI for early access. The new Antigravity CLI, written in Go, promises faster response times and supports asynchronous processing, allowing users to perform large-scale tasks without session locks. Migration documentation is available on Google's developer site.
