Gonka has unveiled PoW 2.0, a new consensus mechanism that transforms traditional proof-of-work mining into a system for executing AI computations. This innovative approach divides each 24-hour Epoch into four distinct stages, including a 6-minute PoW competition and a period dedicated to AI inference and training. The mechanism aims to enhance GPU utilization and minimize energy waste while providing decentralized AI computing resources. Nodes participating in the PoW phase are rewarded based on their performance, with higher weights resulting in more AI tasks. This initiative is supported by Product Science Inc., which secured $18 million in funding in 2023, underscoring the project's potential to revolutionize the use of mining hardware for AI workloads.
