Goldman Sachs and Apollo Global Management are negotiating with Wall Street investors to sell portions of their stakes in a roughly $40 billion chip financing deal for SpaceX, according to Bloomberg. Some investors have been asked to commit up to $500 million before the formal syndication process begins. The debt package includes an $8.3 billion senior secured loan led by Goldman Sachs, along with multiple bond tranches primarily underwritten by Apollo, with participation from PIMCO. Combined with a $7 billion lease prepayment, the financing will fund the purchase of approximately $47.3 billion worth of Nvidia Rubin chips, expected to be delivered in the first half of 2027. SpaceX plans to lease the chips under a five-year agreement. The move comes amid growing scrutiny of the AI investment boom following Democratic gains in midterm elections, adding pressure on large-scale infrastructure financings tied to artificial intelligence.
