The GAIN project has suffered a significant exploit due to a LayerZero peer configuration error, according to an analysis by GoPlus. Attackers were able to initialize additional peers on the Ethereum chain, minting TTTTT tokens and bypassing cross-chain verification. This led to the unauthorized issuance of an additional 5 billion GAIN tokens on the BSC chain.
The exploit has caused the price of GAIN to plummet by over 90%, echoing a similar incident with the Yala project. Users are advised to temporarily halt interactions with the GAIN project to avoid potential losses.
