The French National Assembly's Finance Committee rejected the revenue section of the government's 2027 budget bill by a vote of 31 to 3, causing previously approved crypto tax amendments to lapse. The defeated measures included proposals to tax stablecoin conversions starting January 1, 2027, expand the crypto exit tax scope, and mandate declaration of self-custodied wallets exceeding €100,000 in year-end value.
Lawmakers must now resubmit the crypto taxation proposals when deliberations resume on Tuesday. The National Assembly is scheduled to vote again on the budget revenue section on October 20, followed by a full bill vote on November 17. Non-compliance with the proposed wallet declaration rules would have carried fines up to €10,000.
