Blockchain security firm BlockSec has identified a copycat attack on the FOOMCASH contract on the Ethereum network, resulting in losses of approximately $2.26 million. The attack mirrored a previous vulnerability in Veil Cash, exploiting incorrect verification key configurations to forge zkSNARK proofs. A single transaction on the Base network accounted for $427,000 in losses, while related transactions on Ethereum, totaling about $1.83 million, appear to have been part of a white-hat rescue operation.
