Fold Holdings, Inc. has introduced a Bitcoin bonus program for employees, marking the first initiative from its new enterprise division, Fold Business. The program, effective from March 1, allows over 10,000 hourly workers at Steak 'n Shake to receive Bitcoin rewards, with bonuses set at $0.21 per hour, disbursed over two years. This initiative aims to address market needs by providing a simple, employer-grade rewards mechanism that doesn't require businesses to manage technical infrastructure.
The program has also been adopted by Simple Mining, which invests 1% of each employee's salary into Bitcoin, redeemable at year-end. Fold's approach is tailored for frontline employees in sectors like food service and manufacturing, focusing on retention and hiring challenges. The company plans to expand its platform to include payroll management and other enterprise financial tools. Despite the launch, Fold's stock (FLD) fell over 7% today, trading at $1.41, following a 22% rise last week.
