Fluid has launched the aWETH redemption protocol, designed to alleviate systemic risks in the DeFi sector by allowing ETH borrowers to redeem for wstETH or weETH. This initiative comes as ETH utilization on Aave reaches 100%, leaving many borrowers unable to withdraw funds and vulnerable to market volatility. The protocol aims to restore liquidity and reduce liquidation risks, with a capacity capped at $1 billion in ETH.
The redemption protocol enables users who have borrowed only ETH to fully redeem their positions, while those with ETH collateral and other debts can convert their collateral to wstETH or weETH without altering their debt. Fluid is working with partners like Lido Finance and EtherFi to support a healthier DeFi market.
