Payment giant Fiserv has officially launched its digital asset platform for financial institutions, debuting with the U.S. dollar-backed Roughrider Coin introduced by the Bank of North Dakota. The stablecoin is issued and custodied by VersaBank, utilizes Fireblocks for tokenization infrastructure, and processes transactions on the Solana blockchain.
Roughrider Coin integrates directly into Fiserv’s Commercial Center system to facilitate interbank fund transfers for over 90 participating banks and credit unions in North Dakota. The new platform also supports a suite of institutional applications including stablecoin cards, cross-border payments, programmable commerce, treasury management automation, and tokenized deposits.
