Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus signed a multi-year strategic partnership with OpenAI, which will purchase dedicated AI compute capacity from two Firmus AI factories in Malaysia and become an anchor customer. The deal brings Firmus’ contracted compute capacity to more than 900 megawatts. Firmus said it operates seven AI factories across Australia, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, with two already online and five under construction for phased service launch over the next 24 months. The facilities will deploy Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 systems, Nvidia’s DSX AI Factory platform and Firmus’ proprietary HyperCube liquid-cooling infrastructure. OpenAI said the new Malaysia data centers will help meet growing product demand across Asia-Pacific and globally.
