A co-founder of Finiko, Russia's largest crypto Ponzi scheme, has been extradited to Russia from the United Arab Emirates. The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the suspect was charged with organizing and leading a criminal organization and committing large-scale fraud. The individual was handed over to Russian Interpol at Dubai Airport.
Finiko operated from 2018 to 2021, luring investors with promises of high returns but never making real investments. The scheme defrauded over 7,700 victims, resulting in losses exceeding 1 billion rubles. The suspect fled after the scheme collapsed in 2021 and was apprehended in the UAE in 2022.
