Finance expert Patrick Bet-David has identified XRP as a potential replacement for the SWIFT system during a recent episode of the PBD Podcast. Bet-David, along with Tom Ellsworth and Brandon Aceto, discussed the potential for blockchain technology to revolutionize global payments. Ellsworth pointed out that outdated systems like SWIFT could be replaced by more efficient alternatives, similar to the transition from LIBOR to SOFR. Aceto emphasized SWIFT's vulnerabilities in terms of speed and cost, suggesting that blockchain solutions like Ripple could disrupt its operations. Bet-David also referenced discussions from March 2025, where analysts predicted XRP might capture a significant portion of SWIFT's $5 trillion daily transaction volume. In response to these challenges, SWIFT announced plans to develop a blockchain-based shared ledger system at the Sibos Conference in Frankfurt.
