The last fugitive involved in the kidnapping of Ledger co-founder David Balland has been arrested in Spain, concluding a high-profile case that began in January 2025. Balland was abducted by a criminal gang demanding $11.5 million in Bitcoin, during which he suffered severe injuries. French police rescued Balland and his partner, arresting ten suspects, while one escaped to Spain. After a coordinated effort by French and Spanish authorities, the suspect was captured in Benalmádena. Extradition proceedings are underway in Fuengirola court under the European Arrest Warrant framework. French officials have confirmed that all suspects in the case are now in custody.
