Fetch.ai has initiated a class-action lawsuit against Ocean Protocol in the U.S. Southern District of New York, accusing the latter of misleading the community and mishandling tokens within the AI alliance ASI. The lawsuit alleges that Ocean Protocol transferred 70 million OCEAN tokens, initially intended for community rewards, to a Cayman Islands entity. These tokens were converted into 286 million FET, with 263 million sold, allegedly causing a decline in FET's price.
Fetch.ai's legal team claims that Ocean Protocol misled the token community and partner projects, resulting in millions in profits. Ocean Protocol has denied these allegations, dismissing the lawsuit as a social media-driven exaggeration. Despite the controversy, ASI co-founder Ben Goertzel expressed disappointment but reiterated the alliance's dedication to decentralized AI development.
