The European Parliament has approved the EU-US trade agreement, marking a significant step in transatlantic trade relations. The approval follows a vote by the European Parliament's International Trade Committee, which resumed the legislative process on March 19 with 29 votes in favor. Under the agreement, the EU will eliminate tariffs on US-made industrial goods and offer preferential market access for US seafood and agricultural products. In return, the US will impose a 15% tariff on most EU imports. The agreement is expected to be finalized by July 2025.
