Eurojust, the EU's judicial body, has dismantled a major cryptocurrency fraud ring that defrauded over 100 victims of at least €100 million. Authorities conducted raids in Spain and other countries, arresting five suspects, including the alleged mastermind. The scam involved a specialized online platform promising high returns on cryptocurrency investments, with funds laundered in Lithuania. Victims faced additional fees upon withdrawal attempts, after which the fraudulent site vanished, leaving many with substantial losses. The scheme, active since at least 2018, affected victims across 23 countries, including Germany and France.
