European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU plans to invite major frontier labs to discuss industry efforts in frontier AI fields as advanced models become more powerful and risks continue to rise. Von der Leyen said AI has the potential to benefit humanity if handled properly, adding that EU AI rules can influence global efforts to address AI risks. She said the EU will increase cooperation on the issue with like-minded partners including Canada and the UK.
