Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade has reached its final development phase, with a mainnet launch anticipated in the latter half of the year. Developers are currently running a developer network (devnets) to test all planned Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) before public testnet deployment. Core developer Parithosh Jayanthi confirmed this stage precedes codebase hardening and testnet launch, with significant progress noted despite the absence of a fixed timeline.
Glamsterdam is poised to be Ethereum's largest upgrade since the merger, introducing key features like EIP-7732, which separates block building and proposal to reduce MEV manipulation, and EIP-7928, enhancing execution efficiency through block-level access lists. The upgrade also includes Gas repricings, making computational operations cheaper while increasing state management costs, setting the stage for future large-scale expansion.
