Ethereum is set for significant upgrades in 2026 with the introduction of the Glamsterdam and Hegota forks, aimed at enhancing network scalability. The Glamsterdam fork will enable parallel processing and increase the gas limit to 200 million, up from the current 60 million. Validators will transition to verifying zero-knowledge proofs (ZK), paving the way for Ethereum Layer 1 to achieve a target of 10,000 transactions per second. Additionally, the number of data blocks per block is expected to rise, with each block accommodating over 72 data blocks, further boosting Layer 2 transaction processing capabilities.
