Ethereum staking is experiencing significant changes as spot ETFs integrate native crypto yields into traditional finance. Grayscale initiated this shift by launching Ethereum staking on its ETF in October, staking over 70% of its $4.7 billion in ETH within two months. Following this, BlackRock filed for an iShares Staked Ethereum ETF, contributing to the $18 billion in Ethereum ETF assets, which now account for over 5% of ETH's market cap. Lido currently holds 24% of staked ETH, offering stETH with substantial liquidity and quick redemption options. Meanwhile, Coinbase, despite a smaller staking share, leads in institutional custody with 81% of U.S. crypto ETF holdings. As ETFs expand, Coinbase's strong institutional ties and potential fee reductions could alter the staking landscape, raising concerns about centralization risks.
