Davide Crapis, AI lead at the Ethereum Foundation, emphasized the need for social platforms claiming to support free speech to disclose their algorithmic optimization goals. He argued that these mechanisms should be transparent, understandable, and adjustable for users. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expanded on this by suggesting that every algorithmic decision should be accompanied by a zero-knowledge proof. Ideally, content and interactions like likes and retweets should be timestamped on-chain to prevent server censorship or tampering. Buterin also proposed releasing the full algorithm code after a delay of 1-2 years.
