The Ethereum account and chain abstraction team has introduced the concept of the Ethereum Interoperability Layer (EIL), aiming to streamline the user experience across multiple L2 Rollups as if they were a single Ethereum chain. EIL leverages ERC-4337 account abstraction, enabling users to initiate and settle cross-L2 operations directly from their wallets without the need for bridges, relays, or other intermediaries. Key features of EIL include cross-chain transfers with automatic network selection, cross-chain NFT minting with balance integration and gas management, and cross-chain asset swaps with automatic transaction path selection. The team asserts that EIL will enhance compatibility for multi-chain wallets and dApps, accelerate the adoption of new Rollups, and maintain Ethereum's trustless model.
