Ethereum advocate Anthony Sassano has revealed that Ethereum's gas limit could potentially increase three to five times next year. This development is under discussion among Ethereum core developers, who are considering a significant boost to the network's capacity. Previously, the gas limit was raised from 45 million to 60 million. Sassano explained that this increase could be achieved by rebalancing transaction costs, such as reducing the gas cost for native ETH transfers from 21,000 to 6,000, a decrease of over 70%. This reallocation would allow the network to support higher gas caps without changing the overall gas limit. Sassano, along with Ethereum core developer Ben Adams, has co-authored an Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) aimed at implementing these changes in the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade, slated for the first half of 2026.
