The Ethereum Foundation has commenced staking 70,000 ETH from its treasury to support the Ethereum network and its own operations. On February 24, the foundation confirmed the initiation of this staking process, which aligns with its previously announced treasury policy. An initial deposit of 2,016 ETH has been made, with the total staking amount expected to reach approximately 70,000 ETH.
This staking initiative employs Dirk and Vouch, open-source software solutions developed by Attestant, to enhance security and operational efficiency. Dirk facilitates distributed signing across multiple jurisdictions, while Vouch supports multi-client strategies to mitigate client diversity risks. The foundation's deployment includes a mix of hosted and self-managed infrastructure across various regions. This move aims to strengthen Ethereum's network security and provide sustainable funding for the foundation's core activities, including protocol development, ecosystem expansion, and community grants.
