The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is experiencing a significant leadership turnover as it undergoes internal restructuring. Since February 2026, seven key members, including co-CEO Tomasz Stańczak and key figure Josh Stark, have departed. Stańczak, who advanced initiatives in privacy and decentralized AI, cited a narrowing executive space as a reason for his exit. Stark, instrumental in Ethereum upgrades like The Merge, left to spend time with family. The restructuring aims to address issues of execution efficiency and governance transparency. EF has appointed new leaders for its Protocol team, including Will Corcoran, Kev Wedderburn, and Fredrik Svantes, to focus on upcoming upgrades like Glamsterdam. Despite concerns about the impact of these changes on Ethereum's roadmap, EF maintains that the restructuring aligns with its goal to reduce central control and reinforce Ethereum's neutrality.
