Ethereum is advancing its transaction inclusion capabilities through the synergy of FOCIL and EIP-8141 (AA), which is based on EIP-7701. EIP-8141 elevates smart accounts, including multisig and quantum-resistant signatures, to first-class citizens, allowing direct on-chain transaction inclusion without wrappers. This enhancement extends to privacy protocols, enabling rapid, censorship-resistant transaction inclusion.
FOCIL, in conjunction with EIP-8141, facilitates the inclusion of various transactions, such as smart wallet and gas-sponsored transactions, through one of 17 randomly chosen actors per slot. This ensures rapid inclusion, typically within 1-2 slots, even in adversarial environments. The current iteration of FOCILs is compact at 8 kB, with potential for future expansion to accommodate more transactions per block. This design mitigates centralization risks by disempowering the proposer role while maintaining auctioned MEV-relevant roles through ePBS.
