Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced that the network is undergoing a significant transformation with the launch of PeerDAS on the Ethereum mainnet and the ZK-EVM entering its Alpha phase. Buterin stated that Ethereum is achieving decentralization, consensus, and high bandwidth simultaneously, effectively solving the 'blockchain trilemma' with operational code rather than theoretical models. Buterin revealed that 2026 will see a substantial increase in the gas limit, enabling the practical operation of ZK-EVM nodes. From 2026 to 2028, Ethereum plans to enhance throughput through gas repricing and state structure adjustments. By 2027 to 2030, ZK-EVM is expected to become the mainstream method for block validation on Ethereum. He also emphasized the need for distributed block construction to reduce centralization risks and improve geographical fairness.
