Ethereum's price surged over 8% in the last 24 hours, reaching nearly $2,300, marking a six-week high. Blockchain data reveals that Erik Voorhees, a prominent early Bitcoin supporter and founder of ShapeShift, has purchased 23,393 ETH for $49.08 million USDT at an average price of $2,098. This marks Voorhees' return to Ether buying after a year-long hiatus. Other significant investors have also been accumulating Ethereum. A wallet linked to early Ethereum builder "billΞ.eth" acquired 7,769 ETH for $17.46 million, while another whale spent $24.79 million to buy 11,985 ETH. The increased buying activity coincides with rising institutional interest, as spot Ethereum ETFs recorded over $160 million in net inflows over the past week. Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has sold 18,684 ETH, exceeding his initial plan to sell 16,384 ETH. The sales, totaling over $38 million, are intended to fund open-source projects and infrastructure development, aligning with a period of "mild austerity" for the Ethereum Foundation.
