ENS DAO has approved the activation of a new Security Committee, equipped with a 5-of-8 multisig mechanism, to enhance its governance security. The committee, consisting of eight members, is empowered to cancel malicious proposals during the waiting period after they pass but before execution. This measure aims to protect against potential governance attacks, such as borrowed voting power or hidden malicious code. The committee's authority is strictly limited to canceling transactions in the timelock and cannot access treasury funds or alter proposals. The committee's term is set for two years, after which the DAO will vote on its continuation.
