Nick Johnson, co-founder of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), has blocked the renewal of the ENS DAO Security Council by casting a dissenting vote. Johnson's vote, which accounts for 82% of the "against" votes, effectively halts the proposal. Holding approximately 3.26 million ENS tokens, Johnson's influence represents about 80% of the votes cast in this decision and 50% of all delegated ENS tokens.
Johnson expressed that his vote was driven by concerns over the current Security Council's composition, rather than an attempt to manipulate governance. He highlighted that some council members have indicated they would use veto power to block proposals they personally oppose. The voting process is set to conclude on July 5.
