A Fujian-based company employee, identified as Guo, has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for embezzling over 1.53 million yuan. From spring 2024 to spring 2025, Guo replaced the company's payment codes with his personal WeChat and bank account details, diverting funds intended for educational material subscriptions. The embezzled money was invested in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, resulting in significant losses.
The case came to light in May 2025 when Guo voluntarily surrendered. The Tong'an District Procuratorate charged him with embezzlement, leading to a conviction by the Tong'an District Court, which also imposed a fine.
