Alibaba has unveiled its Qwen 3.5 small model series, featuring Qwen3.5-0.8B, Qwen3.5-2B, Qwen3.5-4B, and Qwen3.5-9B. These models are based on the Qwen3.5 architecture, which is natively multimodal and utilizes scaled reinforcement learning. The smaller models, 0.8B and 2B, are optimized for edge devices, while the 4B model serves as a lightweight multimodal foundational model. The 9B model, although compact, is closing the performance gap with larger models. Elon Musk praised the Qwen model for its "impressive intelligence density."
