Shaw, founder of ElizaOS, has dismissed concerns that quantum computing poses an immediate threat to Bitcoin. He explained that Grover’s algorithm only reduces the search space of SHA-256 from 2²⁵⁶ to 2¹²⁸, which remains secure. Additionally, while Shor’s algorithm theoretically threatens RSA/ECDSA, it requires preprocessing and is not widely implemented. Shaw highlighted that breaking Bitcoin would necessitate rapid execution, exposing all encrypted data, which is currently impractical. He criticized fearmongering around quantum computing as a misunderstanding of the technology's current capabilities.
