Electric Capital has released its 2026 investment blueprint, highlighting 26 opportunities in user-owned technology amid a global decline in institutional trust. The report emphasizes the role of cryptography as a core infrastructure for individual sovereignty, especially as AI centralizes power. Key areas of investment include private AI agents, stablecoin-based finance, and new cryptographic applications. The blueprint outlines six major areas for investment: personal software, agent-focused infrastructure, fintech and DeFi, finance as entertainment, metaverse revival, and new cryptographic primitives. Electric Capital plans to invest between $1 million and $20 million in these technologies, aiming to empower users with control, privacy, and access rights. The firm has been committed to reducing reliance on intermediaries since 2018, starting with programmable money and expanding into software, data, and markets.
